Lahti Bahá'í Community

The Bahá'í Faith is the youngest of all world religions. According to the Bahá'í view, God has revealed Himself to humanity in the course of history through a series of divine Messengers. Thus all major world religions come from the same source. The purpose of religion is to guide humankind progressively to spiritual and moral maturity.

The founder of the Bahá'í Faith, Bahá'u'lláh, revealed Himself to be the Messenger of God for this era. He has brought new spiritual and social teachings which answer the questions of our time. Bahá'u'lláh's pivotal message is the oneness of God, humankind and religion.

Bahá'u'lláh wrote: "The well-being of mankind, its peace and security, are unattainable unless and until its unity is firmly established." Building this unity with practical deeds is the central mission of the Bahá'í Faith.

The Bahá'í society is the world in miniature. Its members from all nations, cultures, social classes and creeds manage their affairs through their administrative organs and the means of consultation. One of the objectives of the Bahá'í society is to ”carry forward an ever advancing civilization”.

According to Bahá'u'lláh, ”world peace is not only possible but inevitable”. Humankind is, in the Bahá'í view, mature to take the lead in the changes of society rather than being dominated by social forces. With these principles the Bahá'ís build a better and more just society through practical deeds. One example of this is helping children and juniour youth to find their capabilities and guiding them to influence their surroundings with their actions.

Being a Bahá'í means serving humankind and working for peace and justice. Humanity is now at the threshold of adulthood. It's everyone's commission to recognize the spiritual guidance with which the unification of humankind can be accomplished.

According to Bahá'u'lláh, the founder of the Bahá'í Faith, the purpose of the new religion is to provide solutions to the problems of its time and to develop man spiritually. Among Bahá'í values are, for example, finding shared solutions through consultation, justice, equality of woman and man, independent search for truth, harmony of science and religion and respect for nature.
